Bayern Munich’s injury woes continue to mount. While Lennart Karl is still recovering and Serge Gnabry has been ruled out for the season, the Bavarian club has confirmed that Raphael Guerreiro has suffered a muscle injury and will miss the Champions League clash against Paris Saint-Germain.
“Raphael Guerreiro is currently sidelined. The 32-year-old player sustained a small muscle tear in the back of his left thigh during the Bundesliga match against FSV Mainz on Saturday,” Bayern Munich stated in a brief official announcement regarding the Portuguese full-back’s injury.
Guerreiro, who confirmed weeks ago that he will not renew his contract with Bayern Munich and will leave the Allianz Arena in the summer, started in the spectacular comeback against Mainz. However, midway through the second half, he had to make way for Jamal Musiala, who is likely to start at the Parc des Princes.
With less than a month of the season remaining, it is uncertain whether he will wear the Bayern jersey again before ending his stint at the Allianz. While he is not an undisputed starter, he has been an important rotational piece for Vincent Kompany, who has used him more as an attacking midfielder than as a left-back since taking over the bench.
