Barcelona faces a Clásico this Sunday that could crown them as league champions. The Blaugrana host Real Madrid in a match loaded with symbolism and significance: it would be a historic image, as Barça has never won a league title against their eternal rival, especially in the first Clásico at the new Spotify Camp Nou.
In a clash of this magnitude, everything points to Gavi playing a key role. The Andalusian midfielder arrives at the decisive stretch of the season having regained prominence after overcoming yet another long injury. Intense, competitive, and deeply culé, Gavi embodies the spirit with which Barça wants to approach the match.
In statements to club media, the youth product emphasized the need to approach the game with maximum focus: “We need to be very concentrated and mentally prepared for this match. In the end, a Clásico is always lived with great intensity.”
Gavi also expressed confidence in the team’s current form and how they have prepared for the game. “I see the team training very well, and they are mentally prepared and focused for this match, which is very important for us and for the fans,” he explained.

For Gavi, Clásicos have been part of his life since his formative years. “A Clásico is… well, from the youth ranks you already live it intensely, I’ve played in many,” he recalled, before stating that “there isn’t much difference between a Clásico with the first team and one with the youth categories.” The midfielder knows exactly what such a match demands: “You have to go at 200% to win it.”
Besides having the league title within reach, Barça is also chasing another historic milestone: reaching 100 points to equal Tito Vilanova’s legendary 2013 league season. “We are having a great season. We need to win this Clásico and the remaining matches to reach 100 points, which would be historic,” Gavi concluded.
