Cristiano Bacci, head coach of Estrela da Amadora, spoke to the press after his team’s 0-0 draw against Famalicão in the 33rd matchday of the Liga. The Italian manager stressed that his side still controls its own destiny in the fight for survival.
Famalicão ‘didn’t play well’
“We knew we were facing one of the best teams in the league. That proved true because Famalicão is well-organized and has individual quality. Even from the bench, their substitutes added value. But our guys gave everything, fought with everything. Even though the opposition had more possession, we were competent. I think Famalicão didn’t play well, partly due to the merit of our players. Obviously, winning would have been better, but I believe this is an important point on our path.”
Estrela da Amadora only depends on themselves
“We will play the last game and we can still count on ourselves. That is very important. In other words, we don’t depend on others. That was my primary goal here. We are still above the line, and nothing has changed even though other teams won. So we must see this with confidence. If Casa Pia could beat Vitória Guimarães, we can do our job against Braga. So I see this with confidence.”

Analysis of points dropped in recent games
“We faced Moreirense away, and today Famalicão. Two teams with good qualities, as I said. Today was a difficult game. But if we had won, nobody could say anything. Although in the final minutes they had two dangerous opportunities, the team was very competent. We worked on the details during the week, and today the team responded well. So we must be realistic, see who we are playing against, and have confidence in what we have done and in the future. Because the team is improving. Let’s not forget that I didn’t arrive last year.”
