Atlético Madrid striker Julián Alvarez has attracted interest not only from French giants Paris Saint-Germain but also from London side Arsenal, according to ESPN.
The report states both clubs are exploring a potential move for the Argentine forward in the upcoming summer transfer window. Earlier reports indicated PSG might be willing to pay over €150 million for the 26-year-old. The French club is reportedly prepared to sell Portuguese striker Gonçalo Ramos to fund the Alvarez deal, with an initial offer expected in the near future.
Upon learning of PSG’s interest, Arsenal decided to enter the race for the player. The Gunners view Alvarez as a top priority to strengthen their attack and are prepared to initiate transfer proceedings.
Notably, Atlético Madrid has no intention of parting ways with the Argentine. Barcelona previously attempted to sign him, but their bid was rejected.
Alvarez’s contract with Atlético runs until the summer of 2030. Transfermarkt values the 26-year-old at €90 million.
This season, Alvarez has made 29 appearances in La Liga, scoring eight goals and providing four assists.
